I would call your doctor. Four months old seems really young to be having apple juice.

Stools will continually change as your baby grows. Teething can affect their stool as well as food. My doctor advised me to not give a particular fruit juice until they have successfully had the fruit without an allergic reaction. I would avoid juice as long as possible because of the sugar content. If your child is doing fine on formula and water you don't necessarily need to add another beverage. If your child has not gone for 2-3 days then she is constipated. Some children only go every other day, which is normal as I found out when concerned about my second son. If you do decide to do juice, I suggest buying regular juice and watering it down, it is most cost effect and then the child isn't getting so much sugar. My older son is 22 months and has had almost all juice that is watered down and he doesn't notice the difference. Sometimes, he gets 90% water with a little juice.

well, for all of you out there who think you can't give a 4 month old juice.. you have no idea what you're talking about.. and prune juice and apple juice cause cramps? and give white grape to help them go? no no no!
apple juice, prune juice, pear juice, and plum juice will all help your baby if they are constipated. mix them 1/2 and 1/2 with water and your baby will be fine.
my baby is always constipated (b/c of stomach problems) and i went from prune juice to plum juice (which she likes better) she was started on apple juice at 4 months (which my doctor TOLD me to do!) giving cereal will only cause more constipation.. you can feed the first fruits, prunes, peaches, pears- these are the best to help with constipation. your baby shouldn't be eating too much fiber and definitely doesn't need to be drinking just water. you're doing a fine job, so keep up the good work... the clear water might have been some urine.. not sure about that... seems that it would be ok, but you might want to check with your pediatrician.

You relieved her....she was "clogged" up (painful)
Prune and apple juices cause gas and if constipated, can be painful with bloating.
Is she getting grains and a good balance of water?
I found the best juice to be grape juice. (start with white)
NOTE:
Pedialyte for possible dehydration....this is a life-saver.
EDIT:
For all the people that judge a mother's care.......
I breastfed and they'd get so bloated from liquid consumption and still want more. (yes, I burped) You know why? The baby was hungry. (needed solids)
When this happened...I fed starter foods and no more bloating. They also rested better at night.
I continued breastfeeding, along with solid food.
FYI: Two months old....on cereal.
I raised six babies....three my birth children.

4 months is way to young to have apple juice. Obviously you are a first time mom but if you read any books during or after pregnancy you should know better. Their little tummies can't handle juice at 4 moths they should be just beginning to be introduced to rice cereal, oatmeal, bananas even applesauce but the baby kind only. No adult stuff. If you know that she is suffering why have you not called your pediatricians office? Call them instead of getting answers on yahoo

We bought the first foods prunes and they really worked the best.I herd apple juice can cause cramps in a baby so we didn't use it.If your baby is eating baby food just try the prunes.

It sounds pretty normal. Call the doctor just to be safe, they can tell you for sure what is normal and what to watch for.

Whew! I thought you meant there was a stool (as in a three legged bar type) in her excrement. If that had been the case, then YES, it would have been weird.
