I have been at my new job for only two weeks now and today I woke up incredeably sick (throwing up, chills, unable to concentrate etc) I am currently at work but I really dont think I'm going to be able to make it the entire day. How bad will this look?

Go to supervision and let them know how sick you are and they will probably send you home. No job is worth your health.

Usually people can tell if you're sick if it's that bad. You'll probably look sick. Depending on what type of job it is (there's a big difference between fast food and an office job is my point) I don't think it'll look that bad.

If you just avoid contact no one will notice a thing and if you can try spending time outside of work without getting in trouble or you can try going to the bathroom every now and then.

The fact that you showed up at work as ill as you are shows your committment to the job. They will obviously see how ill you really are and be more than glad to see you go home so as not to spread it to everyone else.

It's not your fault if you get ill - if you are worried that you Boss will think you are exaggerating, ask to see the Company nurse (if they have one) else the First aider and get your temperature checked.

Talk to your supervisor, he or she may prefer that you go home if your are sick enough to be passing your symptoms on to others.

Good luck, and I hope you feel better.

It would be convincing if you could throw up at work.
