Really you're comparing Deron Williams and Carlos Boozer to Karl Malone and John Stockton, and at first glance that seems like an easy answer.

But, basketball is a team sport and there is no question that the current Utah Jazz are better at SF and Center.

Hornacek was a good 2 gaurd, so the 1996-1997 Jazz get the edge in that category, but the current Jazz's bench is by far deeper.

So, I'd say that the current Utah Jazz would win in a close game if they were able to shut down EITHER Stockton or Malone.
