There is no "normal" . What the world considers normal is only the majority of what we do, think, or how we act. Therefore when someone is doing something different than the majority thery're considered to be an outcast, or looked down apon because they are different than the majority. Myself personally I hate the way socioty has a grip on how poeple should be....You should always be your self, not in someone else's image. If poeple don't like the way you are oh well, who needs 'em. What socioty don't realize is there are more outcast than they know, and the number keep rising, poeple are tired of being a set standard in life and want to express their own indiviuality.
So....in conclusion there is no normal,or even abnormal, only those who choose to be different than the majority of society.
(This is an opinion, but I'm sure there are poeple who would agree with me)

Normal is what all the individuals have in common! and what is social accepted.
for one house hold normal may be to let the dogs lick the dishes
for another house hold it isn't normal
as a hole for a city it could be normal meaning more people are like the first house hold then the second house hold but maybe for the State more people don't let their dogs lick dishes. so the normal moves around a lot!
so the best way to say what is normal is what group of individuals with the higher precentage would hold the Norm.

I think 'normal' is what marjority says is. It's normal to drink water but not normal to drink urine. But of course there's such a diversity that each country has it's own 'normal'. It's not normal to eat bat in America but it is in China. It's not normal for an adult male to marry a 12 yr old girl for most people but in some religious cults it is.
in America, at least, we are always hearing about surveys being done. I have no idea who are doing these surveys and who they are asking and how many people they are asking and what the exact questions are asked, but it seems that whatever the results of these 'surveys' are is considered to be the 'norm'.

I consider you in many procedures. What gets me the main is the butchering of names - spelling with a 'y' etc merely makes human beings seem uneducated and makes the youngster could desire to spell their call for each guy or woman. in spite of the indisputable fact that individuals could desire to recollect that the countless names these days that are distinctive, are actual previous names. Eg. i like the call Oscar. human beings think of of it as a puppy call yet previously being a puppy call it replaced into actual a acceptable call. i like to locate a stability, some thing that's distinctive yet nonetheless 'genuine' and not stupid.

The dictionary is the ONLY place you can find what the word normal MEANS because if you look at all of us humans, there isn't a "normal" one in the bunch!
I guess, "normal" is whatever you & your family consider to be acceptable & moral in your household.
In my house, it is "normal" for my kids to get whatever they want out of the pantry, but in their grandparent's house, it's not acceptable behavior & is therefore considered "abnormal."
Dumb example, but it makes my point.

Because we are all individuals and have unique qualities, normal is different things to different people. What I may describe as normal to me, may not be to you. It depends on your upbringing, lifestyle and beliefs.

Normal, better described as social norms, are the "typical" and what's accepted by the society at large. So its culturally dependent. maybe you should have asked this question in the "Sociology" section. :)
