I'm building a wall around the roof of my caravan so i can then fill it with water and have my own personal swiming pool. I can't get the first layer of bricks to stick to the metal roof though. My mum rekcons when its cemented the weight will hold it down so i won't have to stick the first layer of bricks to the roof. i'm not sure i trust her though she'e not that good at building.any ideas?

My first idea is Don't Build A Swimming Pool on top of a caravan. The roof will not be strong enough to hold the weight of the water.

I think your mom could be right, depending on how many layers of brick you will be using. I found that if I had it about 8ft high, the seal is good enough to keep it watertight. Otherwise it tended to leak into the kitchen area through the window. There is also a tar-like preparation called Tunsulac which you can use to seal the bottom. Don't know if they still make it. But be careful about filling it during the hose-pipe ban period. I find that the high vantage point makes it easy for the neighbours to spot that you are using the hose-pipe. These people just don't understand.

I think the solution to leak prevention is probably some type of plastic liner. However it seems to me the real challenge is keeping the water from sloshing ( splashing ) out when cornering or stopping in traffic. I recommend installation of some performance type windshield wiper blades with multiple blades ( triples are what I would use ) for your existing wiper arms. This would probably be adequate to remove the volume of water you can expect when stopping.
Some aftermarket chrome splashguards at the top of the side windows would probably be good also, so water doesn't come in and onto your lap in great volume when the side windows are rolled down. I hope this helps, but judging from your existing plan, you've probably already thought of these things.

First you need to lay the roof with plastic - then you will find that the cement will stick nicely. Hope this helps. Be careful if your thinking of a water flume thou - water goes everywhere when you slide out of that...:)

Are you going to put those tasteful pots of summer flowers round the outside?
If you are I would love to rent it from you?

I can see no reason why it won't work.
