Depends on the species.

For all species the tank must be twice as tall as the Mantis will be long when fully grown. This is to allow it to shed it's skin safely. They all need some but not a lot of twigs in to climb on.

Dead leaf mantis's like a few twigs with brown leaves attached to conceal themselves on.

Flower mantids like fake flowers to hide on.

Spray the tank with water. How often depends on the Mantis's age.Daily for very young nymphs, twice a week for adults.

In the first place a praying mantis is a protected species, and on the endangered species list, so you should release it immediately. There may be a law that you are breaking by keeping one in your home.

a praying mantis will only live long enough to lay it's egg casing then once they do they stop eating and die.
