Yes, I am serious. Put a big blob of it around the heel or wherever is bothering you, and rub it in well. I use this on my dancing shoes when I get new ones as they are made of leather and very sore until you break them in.

Saddle Soap is great for softening any leather except suede. You can get it from shoe repair shops, and probably from good shoe shops too.

My mother used to get some damp newspaper and stuff it into new shoes. It's supposed to stretch the leather and soften it up.

it sounds weird, but if you massage the leather part that hurts, like back and forth, it should become softer.
You can buy products to soften the leather, but really you don't need to waste your money.

pop to a shoe shop and get some dubben - rub it in with a clothe, and it'll make them last longer too
