I would start asking him to help you with things he can't mess up......like picking something up from the store.....and while he's gone, call a professional.

If he complains, tell him his time is too valueable to the family and you to be wasting it on labor. Then pull him to the bedroom and distract him!! LOL....chances are, he'll see your way is right, and he never has to know it's because he's not really good at fixing stuff.

I'm a guy and my philosophy is my wife can tell me what to do or how to do it, not both. So start your honey do list and make sure the only things on it are things he is capable of. Then let him do it his way. BTW, phone lines are easy. You usually only need two wires for a regular telephone. If the home is older and the wires are Red, Green, Yellow, and Black, the Red and Green wires are normally used for dial tone. If you wire are Blue, Orange, Green and Brown they will be in pairs...Blue with a White tracer, White with a Blue tracer, etc.
The Blue White and White Blue wire normally has dial tone. The other wires are not used unless you have a second or third line or some special features (not call waiting, or voicemail).
Good Luck and love him anyway. We mainly learn by doing....and usually fail the first few times.

Create projects that won't destroy your house. Ask him if he would built you a planer box etc. When his busy with his projects tell him you appreciate all the hard work his is doing and to show your appreciation you are going to have a pro fix that sink, so that he can relax. Bate...switch!

aww.. sounds cute, just let him try then when he is gone find a pay rhone, a neighbors phone, a cell phone and call a electrition....it might hurt his feeling for a little while, but he will get over it, or you can send him to home depot and tell him to ask them what to do, they can help him with anything, and give him instructions on how to do it

By divorcing him.

Give him a break, he was just trying to feel important for once. I think you have a problem. It sounds to me that you dont support him in any way good or bad.

Would you rather him not try at all? If he can't fix it, he's going to have to pay to get it fixed anyway....might as well try.

Geeze. He tries to help out, you get upset. He doesn't help out, you get upset. Catch 22. Been there, done that.
