I downloaded files from Bearshare and saw that it was protected. Is there any way to unprotect it so I can load it on to my mp3 player?

Any kind of software?

How do you know if it's DRM or not DRM?

I've been trying to solve this same problem, since my mp3 player does not play DRM files. So far I haven't figured out a way, and it's frustrating, but I guess I'll have to live with it and use music from CDs.

Try these programs.

unfuck.exe (I know a bit of a harsh name):

freeme (download FreeMe.exe):

Ok, the deal with Freeme is that you need a valid license to be able to play the file in the first place. If you have a valid license, then freeme can strip the protection from the file.

ie. one person in the greater sharing community needs a license for the file, and they need to strip the protection.

of course that would probably be illegal, and therefore bad and evil. therefore I in no way condone such actions. etc etc.

Not if it has DRM. If it is not protected by DRM then there might be a way. I do not know this way but i know that DRM is permanent.

Hope this helps.
