What do you think?? Of course he should, not that he's going to of course. So much innocent blood has been spilt all because of one mans paranoia over weapons of mass destruction. Those WMD never existed, and yet we went to war anyway. Tony Blair should hang his head in shame and go swiftly to an embarrassing retirement.

Yes. So should Bush. But they won't. Blair and Bush were convinced Saddam still had WMD because we sold them to him in the 80's to use against Iran. They must have thought that when we invaded and found tons of WMD stacked up in warehouses it would look like we were justified in invading. It was pretty inconvenient when no WMD were found. Those who argue that Saddam was an evil dictator are right but there are plenty of other evil dictators in the world and we aren't doing anything about them. Iraq has a lot of oil and the WMD was a pretence for invading. Blair and Bush have a lot of blood on their hands.

He is. This is why he is stepping aside to try and maintain what little "legacy" he has or rather the tattered remains of it.
People do not realize that Tony Blair was not really liked by his party but they knew he had the charisma to win which is why they held their noses and voted for him.
As soon as he started to slip up and numbers dropped they "deep sixed" him. If he had not gotten the U.K. involved in the quagmire that is Iraq, he would not be "leaving" office at this time. He could have outlasted the record set by the "Iron Lady" but he backed the wrong horse- George W Bush. He ignored the wishes of the people who put him in office, forgetting the way this president has, that it was not I, the prime minister, but we the people.
I am starting to see the same things happening here. The conservative wing of the Republican party, does not really like Rudy but they like what he represented in terms of "hero of 9/11". They have not really delved into his record and glossed in their minds his moral fortitude. They are just interested in winning instead of what is really best for the country. So they will hold their noses and vote for him, if it looks like he can win the presidency.

No and neither should Bush. It's the stupidity of the American and British people that let this happen. Let's face it - we all got politically lazy - Bush and Blair new it and took advantage.

Blair deserves a medal for having the balls to stand up and be counted when the rest of the UN passed resolution after resolution and did nothing to help the Iraqi people who were being systematically murdered.
It amazes me that all these people slag off Blair using their democratic right to freedom of speech and yet they would be happy to deny that right to the Iraqi people. What gives them the right to deny Iraqi's the same democratic rights as we enjoy, and so obviously take for granted judging by some of these answers.
I am glad that we are willing to stand up for whats right in this world and I am proud to be British.
DEMOCRACY IS FOR EVERYONE not just the privileged few...,,,

Of course he should.
However, what will happen is that he will get a peerage (standard for ex-PMs) and then go on a lecture tour of the US in order to pay off his mortgage, during which he will blame the Tories for everything that goes wrong, as that's what he always does.
