Yes, especially white men. We are always cast as the evil, racist, uneducated, no-good, absentee father and cheating husband, who sits and drinks beer all day while watching football on our big screen TVs.
Someday, we white men will be portrayed accurately as genuinely good people. Perhaps, after African-Americans and homosexuals are portrayed as the only true heroes.

Here's an idea, stop watching TV and read a book. There are plenty of books that don't degrade anyone. TV is full of immorality these days, some shows are okay, but for the most part, it's just a bunch of bunk, and there's not really anything you can do to change it. If you don't like to read, then oh well, make up your own story in your head and write your own book. Good luck and God bless.

People always need something to complain about. Not all women are protrayed in a sexual manner and not all men are protrayed in a masculine manner. The marketers are trying to appeal to the masses, however, and right now, that is the common idea on how each gender should be represented. If society as a whole changed their opinions on how each gender was represented, we could see some change in how each is protrayed.

I have never thought women are degraded very much on television and I have never personally been offended by their portrayal...but I agree about the way men are portrayed especially in sitcom and advertisements. I know its meant to be funny or tongue in cheek, but poor men are made to look like bloody idiots. As a woman, I find this slightly offensive, unimaginative and very boring.

a number of that's, the female is being taken care of badly and the guy isn't. i think extra effective than vice-versa or than comparable-intercourse porn. a good little bit of porn is like this. i be attentive to there is consent often yet i do no longer think of that negates the problem. regardless of the reality that, in a good little bit of porn the guy is extra portrayed as an merchandise for the reason which you spot the female, see her having excitement (whether this is regularly pretend) yet he's in lots of cases off-show screen different than for his penis. So being purely a penis is like being an merchandise. newbie porn isn't probably degrading to the two i think, relies upon what they are doing. certainly i'm in 2 minds. particular i've got seen a good number of porn, regularly newbie.

Dear God @ idiot who claims that the objectification of women is respectful (Celebrating women?!?!?)
To an extent, men are portrayed in degrading ways on T.V., but not anywhere near the extent to which women are degraded... (I.E., men are shown slapping women around - but women are shown falling down and whimpering pathetically and submitting to the man; Guys are shown as blundering idiots, but at least they're allowed to be unnatractive and act!! Have you seen 'Everybody Loves Jim', 'King of Queens', etc.? Also, men ARE portrayed as more violent, but women are always portrayed as the helpless victims of their crimes...) Men don't have much to complain about when it comes to the media, if you ask me. It's all marketed to them (except, of course, cleaning supply commercials)...

Maybe TV is too much of a role model and women act the way they do because they see it on TV and men act the way they do for the same reason. TV has made it okay to behave like uncivilized animals.

Yes, men are degraded just as much as women, but in slightly different ways. It really bothers me to see men portrayed as brainless, testosterone loaded, neanderthals just as much as it bothers me to see women portrayed as cold-hearted, promiscuous gold diggers.
Nothing but baseless, harmful stereotypes that the media uses to sell its product or promote its show. I think that is why I don't watch as much as television as I used too.
