I have a 1995 Oldsmobile Eighty-Eight and 75% of the time, it is very sluggish on the take off. If I come to a rolling stop, it's not really a problem, but taking off from a dead stop it seems to not want to go. I can put the pedal to the floor and she creeps for about 5 secs or more and then very slowly excels. She does not have trouble shifting while I am driving. There have been a couple of times that I have had plenty of time and room and almost gotten hit because of her sluggishness.

tighten that rubber band a little tighter.just joking dear.sounds like its not getting enough gas, change the gas filter.also this might not sound right, but is the emergency brake released?i dont mean up front, but in the back wheels.does it slip with you?i would check the tranny fluid anyways, just to make sure its not low.but it sounds more like fuel then anything else.i have a 1988 olds delta 88 3.8 and its got a lot of power.it wouldnt cost that much to change the gas filter.

Have your Fuel Filter replaced, it may just be time.

You also might need good tune up...Spark plugs, wires, air filter, oil and filter, maybe transmission fluid too.

My 1988 Chevy Silverado 5.0L V8 truck is having the same trouble, it seems to be my fuel system, i changed my Fuel filter and it has cleared up!, but want to replace my fuel pump too-soon

I hope its just your Fuel Filter... get it checked if needed.

Best wishes.

It sounds like your transmission isn't going into first gear. Check the fluid level and try a flush if that's the case. If those don't work, you're looking at a rebuild.

Sounds like it's not downshifting into first but staying and taking off in second. Drop it into first (D1) yourself and see if gets better on take off. It could be your linkage but maybe a tranny problem, have a tranny guy have a look at it if it takes off fine when you put it into D1 yourself.

Also have the transmission fluid level checked. Low fluid level would causing slipping.
