The murder of Rabin is totally abhorrent from a secularist perspective. Don't forget, Israel was founded by secularists.
If one considers what Rabin did from a relitious perspective, several elements in the Old Testament enjoin respect for non-Jews. "Blessed is Egypt, the work of my hands" - Isaiah.
