This gasket should be really cheap but the labor's gonna kill you.

It's not the head gasket problem. You have either leaking valve seals which is not a big deal. If it smoke upon initial start up and /or deceleration, it's the seals. If it smokes on acceleration - worn or collapsed piston rings. To replace the seals, you don't need to pull the head, and you should be able to get away with about $200. With the rings, it's a different story, and you'll be lucky to stay within $2,500. A used engine could be a more feasible solution. But before doing anything drastic, try adding cleaner to oil - follow instructions carefully or you may damage the engine! See if it makes difference because Acura engines don't wear out regardless of mileage providing basic maintenance - like oil changes - is done. The most common cause would be carbon accumulation in the piston ring grooves due to limited maintenance. Carbon causes the rings to stick thus allowing oil to enter combustion chamber.

Prices range from $100 for an OEM equivelent part on up to $500 for custom and racing applications. Depending on what you're trying to accomplish. Really need to consider what brought on the failure of the previous gasket and the severity of the condition. B-series motors are pretty stout. I run a turbo at 8 psi and the occassional 100 shot of nitrous on stock internals. Blew my OEM grade head gasket at the track at 10 psi. If you're not a racer, could be a more serious issue than JUST the head gasket. If the motor was run hot, the aluminum cylinder head could be warped...

Leave the head gasket alone, that's not the problem. Check your thermostat first, I think it's stuck wide open then change oil and add treatment to it to thicken it up.
