Absolutely.....we don't stick them in homes,,,,and when they are near death, and nothing can be done..we have the option of putting them down mercifully....no lingering on and on...

I don't think so. I mean, you can buy pets in a pet store but you can never buy an old man or woman can you? plus, the elderly is our family. How can you treat your dog better than your mother or grandmother who raised you since birth? Animals have feelings too but they are justfeeble. Animals don't have the same charisma that true family members have for each other.

I have yet to put an elderly person "to sleep," have you?
I often work in nursing homes. I have a great deal of respect for my fellow co-workers because being a CNA at an elderly home is a hard and thankless job.
But, there are always Nurses that don't care. Which I find to be horrible.
Since I have my nursing degree, I have promised myself that I will take care of my parents. I will never put them in a home.

You talking about euthanasia? I am the elderly with a terminal disease. I should get to decide when I have had enough....and mostly I can. I have a living will that says (no heroics), dual power of attorney for health care (someone (legally chosen) that will pull that durn plug cause that is what I want) and a will.
so, yes I think I can decide that...but, yes some people will always treat their dog better......

Yes. It's quite disgusting actually.
My dad is speaking with a lawyer today about the abuse and neglect my mother has suffered during her 4 month stay at the hospital that should have been a 3 day stay, but they screwed up big time on her and now she's in worse shape than she was when she went in there.
I understand there's a nursing shortage, but that doesn't give the nurses we have the right to treat people like less than dogs.

Yes, because we keep our pets close to us, and throw elderly into a nursing home, we buy out pets all kinds of special things to keep them healthy, and we all get greedy over the elderlys will. You really make a good point!

Sure - just like we treat unborn pets better than unborn babies. I've never known anyone to take their dogs, cats, etc. to the vet to perform an abortion on them. To some, animal life is more important than human life - go figure.

i don't think so. Most elderly people are in some sort of care facility when they are about to die.
Dogs just get a blanket and canned food.
not much of comparison.

No, not me personally. Loving dogs (4) makes me more sympathetic to everyone because I am always feeling loved and I also love. Pets (dogs) make me reach out all the more.
But I get your point!!
