It's like, do you actually have anything else to do? No real friends? are you the shortest or the fattest in your demographic and feel the need to express yourself without actually meeting people face to face?
or is it a personal hygiene thing?

Its just been a long cold winter in Ohio, and I try not to go out any more than necessary.

Yahoo slapped the top contributor bar under some peoples pictures without asking anyone if they wanted it.

When I posted a request to opt out of the top contributor thing on the yahoo suggestions page I got an email back saying that my suggestion was being deleted, with no explanation.

Now that you mentioned it I an getting a bit pudgy for my demographic. Thanks for drawing my attention to it.

Love and blessings Don

Bored and Office-bound.
I often wonder myself why I continue to answer questions. My answer is it's just something to break the monotony during slow times at work (I only actually work about 2-4 hours a day).
Sometimes I just click "random article" on wikipedia.
Everyone can see my monitors so I can't play games.
I wish I could take it off. It makes me look like a pretentious elitist with nothing better to do. But it basically translates that I only answer questions from the philosophy section.
I guess that makes me a geek becuase I don't want to answer questions about pop culture, politics or Unicef.

In fact, your question has just inspired me to answer questions elsewhere... before I become a Top Wannabeknowitall.

Generally sharing views is the best way to enrich our knowledge . In a friends circle or in a public meeting the limitations are very narrow and we can't cross certain limits . But this forum is wide open and the contacts are more .
But regarding the top contributors ,I can't say anything particular . It may contain both category - people who want to share their views and also people who just want to spend the time

I have often wondered that myself. Especially when you see the high scores.

I thought that some of them may have been the ones who started yahoo answers, or might actually be getting paid by yahoo answers.

I am quite happy being at level two. That lets me answer questions when I feel like it without being pressured.

I am still looking forward to more answers to this question.

That might be the case in some situations, but not necessarily. This generation has some who have spent their whole lives using a computer and it has become a main form of entertainment. They spend alot of time here because they enjoy it.
