Every employer is different. When you say 2:1, that could mean the employer contributes $10 for every $5 you contribute or the other way around. Either way, employers usually have cap on the percentage of salary that they'll match. A person earning $1000/week may get a 2:1 match on the first $50 or 5%, and then nothing else. Effectively this person is earning $1100/week and being taxed on $950.
In today's job market, this is pretty good. Many, if not most, employers will do a 1:1 match, or less.

as a 401k consultant in the business for 15 years I can tell you that a 2:1 match is so rare that I've never seen it. If you have opportunity to get that...it's huge!!! It will make you have to work 3-5 years less than someone else with a 1:1 match.

That is rare generally they match up to a certain percent, at least my company does. So if you work for someone that matches x2 let me know I want to work there as well.
