These days in movies, it's gore rather than rape, unless it is that of a kid. Why?

Directors show kids getting molested, raped. Don't they get a similar reaction towards adult victims?

well it's definitely way more evil to do something like that to a child, and it's not something that has been shown enough to desensitize us quite yet. whereas there are tons of movies with adults being raped, sort of like the gore thing...after a while you just get used to it.
