since i also live in Florida let me ask you, do you know what right to work means? if not it means that your son can be dismissed at any time with no explanation. does he work at tradeport or another branch? i suggest that he join the union that way he has some back-up if the need should arise.

Anyone who works in Florida and had the opportunity to join a union, should join. I lived in Florida for 11 years and worked in manufacturing plants that fought union membership. Their main argument was "Why pay someone else to talk to us when you can do so yourself?" Answer is, because they won't listen or care. For low monthly dues payment, you will gain much more.

unions were formed because employers will take every advantage they can to keep your pay low and conditions minimal. however if you work for an employer who will give you a deserved raise, pay into a pension fund, and offer you hospitalization, then maybe you dont need a union. he will have to talk to members and non-members of his place of employment and make his own judgement. i could not make a decent living where i live if i didnt belong to a union...
