Unless you have access to a bucket load of lady bugs, make up a weak solution of wash-up liquid and water and put it in a spray bottle. Spray the affected area. This usually works on Roses in England and does not effect the soil or plant

Aphid control through the use of insect predators:
Convergent Lady Beetle
Predatory Lady Beetle
Lacewing
Chinese Preying Mantis
Predatory Anthocorid Bugs
Aphid Midge
Mirid Bug
Parasitoid Wasps
Although ladybugs are excellent voracious aphid predators, keep in mind that they have a natural tendency to disperse, and for this reason are generally not recommended for use in gardens; however, they can be used successfully in indoor environments such as greenhouses.
Lacewing larvae are more cost effective as predators, and will consume aphids and other pests as efficiently as ladybugs.
Spraying a solution of one part sugar with ten parts water onto aphid-susceptible plants will encourage the arrival of beneficial insects.
Oils/Sprays that you can use:
- Fish, petroleum, or vegetable oils can be used.
- 2% emulsion of basil, avocado, or clove oil used to repel.
- Soap sprays with citrus oil or pyrethrin.
- Garlic sprays and hot pepper wax.

Save the water from your washing machine and toss this over your plants (soap suds & all). Have found it to be very good for killing aphids. Just make sure the water is cold before using it.

depends on where they were. if in my indoor potted plants, i'd use non sudsy amonia. (just a little bit in a big bottle of water.)
otherwise, if outdoors, i'd spray them with something toxic to all insect, animal and plant life.

You can just knock them off with water, we don't have to kill every single thing. You'll always have the same amount no matter whether you kill them or just knock them off.
