What kind of turtle do I have?
I bought a pair of turtles today in india , and I want to know what kind they are so I can take good care of them.

They're VERY small, about the size of a half dollar, any bigger. They are green with white stripes on their skin and yellow strip/spots on the sides of their faces. The shells are also green and swirly and have a thin yellow line around the edge. The bottom of the shells are yellow with swirly black spots.

Unfortunately, there are several dozen species this could be. I cannot tell from this description.

Try this link and see if anything looks familar: http://www.austinsturtlepage.com/world_of_turtles/index.html (The main selection box changes photo collections. be sure to try the one for 'Exotic (Non-US Native) Turtles'.

They DO NOT sound like RES, or they would have red stripes on their face, thus the name "Red Eared Slider". It is nearly impossible to tell without a picture.

sounds like you have a red ear slider. read up on them and always wash your hands after handling as they are sometimes carriers of salmonella
