Its much easier for people to get on the web and look up what they need then go searching through a book that may not contain exactly what they are looking for. You are doing a research paper...and instead of trying to do research using studies and such in a book, you got on yahoo and want others to do the work for you. Isn't that much simpler. Personally I adore books.

Actually - you should be looking into recent brain research.
If I recall from a while ago, there are some studies that show that computers access a different part of the brain then traditional books. Which is why reading information on a computer may be preferred by some individuals.
That should provide you with a more scientifc and supportable evidence that the personal opinions posted here.
Although there is a lot to be said for readers wanting the bottom line fast, the graphics, etc. (and I tend to agree with them) you need a source you can document. You might have to look in a book. :)
Ask yourself - why did you post this question instead of doing more research?
Good Luck

It is difficult to understand your question. What kind of reading are you talking about? Research? Literature?
Research is simply a lot easier on a computer. It is a great tool for sifting through volumes of material quickly and efficiently.
If you are referring to reading books like novels or literature I have a theory. Before there was TV or radio or movies or anything like that, people read books as entertainment. When a person in Ohio read a book about an African safari he probably had never seen even a photo of Africa or the exotic animals and plants. The reader wanted as much detail as possible. If a person read story about a two people in love or a man on a quest or someone in trouble, they wanted to really experience it through that persons eyes.
That is why you may read an old piece of classic literature and find that the author spends six paragraphs describing a sunrise. For the readers of the time it was great entertainment. Most of today's readers want to get to the point. They are used to seeing beautiful sunrises in photos, films etc. They are sort of saying, "all right already, the sun rose. So then what happened?".
For many of today's students, the destination is all that matters. Yesterday's readers enjoyed the journey more than the destination.
Hope this helps. Good luck on your research paper.

The Internet moves way faster, have graphics, videos and it easy to get exposed to sex and porn...the book moves slow and you have a lesser chance of seeing porn also it doesn't have color...The older children gets I think that they will learn to read more then use the computer...

i think the students finds it more easier since there is "google" or any search thing...
and they could also go online and chat with their friends or even play on it if mommy or daddy isn't around...
