the same reason people like Jim Rice, and Pete Rose aren't in the hall of fame. the people that decide these things are assholes.

Mo Vaughn was the last Sox player to win and guess what!? he wanted out of Boston! another example! have you ever wondered why Jim Rice isnt in the Hall of Fame!? cause he was a sox player! people say that he was mean to the writers......yeah right!!!!!!!!!! trust me, Ortiz will get an award but there will be contiversy! if you thing he is a TRUE MVP type player let him to to the national league. where he would have to play everyday. that would show if he is that well rounded player everyone thinks he is. if he can't make it then NL then he should never win it in the AL cuz all he does it comes up and swings his bat. AROD can do the same thing he comes up and swings his bat. maybe not as clutch as Ortiz but still puts up MVP type numbers. if Ortiz would go out and play a full game at least 65 games then i would consider him. as a Yankee fan i would give him better consideration not saying he would win it but more thought then what i would have if all he did was come off the bench and hit.

Because he did not lead his team to the post-season, and there were just better players than him last year. He was very good, with some great walk-off home runs, but you look at him only for his offense, and compare him to Morneau Jeter, and Dye and their offense and defense, and it is no contest.
Than again, you can make an argument when you see that Bonds won 4 years in a row with less than stellar defense.

mostly because hez a DH. because he only hits and thats it( except for interleague play) he is not even considered by the people who decide. in 2005 A-Rod won cuz he was a hitter and a good feilder. and dont get me wrong david can hit. its that he doest play feild (as ive already stated) but i do beleive he shoulda won because he got hz team as far he could and hez arguabl one of the best layers in baseball. but if he waz like ryan howard he would have been considered a lot more. ryan howard can hit and can play the feild. plus the red sox not getting into the playoffs last year urt his chaces too.

Probably because he plays on such a great team. If you just look at his #'s, they are amazing. The problem with him getting MVP is because his surrounding cast is so good, too. He gets a lot of RBI's because he always has people on base to knock in.
Also, he doesn't play the field. Being a DH is different than being a great fielder and batting well, like a Beltran or Pujols.
He is, in my opinion, the best DH ever.

One dimensional player, he needs to play the field. In 2005 A-Rod won with the bat and the glove. his defense took away more from other teams as much as he did hitting. Ortiz, prob should take more HGH drop some weight and play the field. Playing the field will take away from his hitting. It is a long season for the players who actually play Full time

You have to be realistic about this. DH's are not considered complete ball players. Like it or not the voters responsible for these selections have to take into consideration not only the offensive stats but also contributions made defensively. Unless he plays defense on a consistent basis he will not get serious consideration.

Ortiz is not a complete baseball player in the eyes of the voters. I'll take him on my team anyday.
