The Indian culture and the Western culture both carry with it advantages and disadvantages. It is not possible for me to say which is better. It all depends on the individual’s perception, and lifestyle choice.

All cultures have their advantages as well as disadvantages. I wouldn't say one is better than the other. I do however admire how many other cultures keep family so close knit and stick together. I think if more cultures were like this, then there would be a higher success rate and happiness. It would be easier to start a business, grandparents wouldn't end up in homes, children would have much more support and a well rounded upbringing. Not to say that small families cannot provide this, but for different reasons larger families can be an advantage.

Culture is a very sensitive issue and every informed and well versed person will definitely defend his/her culture. It is the environment where one grows up and definitely develops a liking for the same. So each culture is great in its own magnanimity and practicality.
However , a culture can be judged , based on certain practical parameters. The most important factor is whether your culture helps to live a healthy physical and mental life?
Whether this culture provides the basic questions which comes to a normal human mind?
Answers to all these crucial questions are there in the Great Indian Religious Books , which makes a person content and helps him to live life happily , in spite of being poorest of the poor and deprived of many basic necessities. People in India are not desperately disturbed even in most trying conditions , as our value systems and belief in life and god are stronger than the sufferings in life.
So , Indian culture is definitely better in the philosophy of life.
The western culture is better in the materialistic part of life.
A balanced mix of both makes the best culture of the world.

Undoubtedly Indian culture is far better than the western culture. It is a garden with different flowers with many colours and fragrances. Multi colour, religion, caste, region, language people live together as a family (not only a nation), excepting some untoward incidents by unscrupulous mischief mongers.

Who are we to judge another's culture?
How does one define better?
I am of the opinion that we should look from the point of view that each culture has its merits & demerits.
We should all learn from each other instead of judging.
The world could be a better place.

Every culture has the mixture of good and bad. Wise people adopt the good from all directions. In my opinion being respectful to other culture is one of the signs of a good culture.

This can not be compared.
One should not copy another.

Where is your boundry of western culture ?

Are you refering to cultures in US and Europe as western?

Culture as a whole in India is filled with Values but the rationale behind some of the values is not known to current generation of people. They have become dogmas / blind faiths, From values perspective (in theory) indian culture will score higher than western but the main ingradient to put these values to practice is "action".

On a comparitive note Western culture is full of action, and the highest values known to them are put in practice, where as in India the gap between the highest values known and the values put in practice is huge. If we have to compare not in theory but what is practice western culture will score higher.

In total if your reason for comparison is to lead a happier life it is independednt of culture it depends on how you relate to the world.
