everyone else seems to get orange boxes and i dont?

DANGED BE THE PEOPLE WHO DON'T GIVE US ORANGE BOXES!
I have no idea which orange boxes you're talking about, but I do know that I don't have one either and am thoroughly depressed about the situation. I might need therapy. Everyone deserves an orange box.

Right now, it's a bit of a buckshot approach. There are tons of people with the badge since it's not quite been refined yet.
Hopefully, the criteria will change to better reflect top "contributors" in terms of content and best answers, etc, but until then, it's just frequent answerers for the most part (the formula's actually multifaceted, but that doesn't matter right now). Quality plays a part, but not necessarily a huge part, though you do need to have a nominal BA% in the category you're focusing on.
So, at the moment, the criteria's roughly, answer lots and lots of questions in a category that has lots of questions, in a short amount of time, with a decent % of BAs and you'll get one. Points and levels and being on the leaderboard play no factor.

I think you have to answer a certain amount of questions and have so many points, but I could be wrong. =)
