Can anyone tell me a single word to replace the phrase "has it all together?" I'm writing a story and I'm stuck

"Sighing deeply, he lowered his head to his desktop and rested his eyes while the teacher took attendance. As Marin watched his usually well put together friend who now seemed so troubled a look of concern flickered across his face."

That's what I have, but it seems too wordy.

consolidated, composed, organized, collected, confident.

"Composed" may be the word.

Tip: you are using "troubled" and then "concern", & you're looking for a similar word to "composed". In English, this is called redundancy, meaning you are repeating/overemphasizing something in a sentence.

Also, your sentence "As Marin.... his face." is an INCOMPLETE sentence, so technically it's not a sentence because its, well, incomplete.

You may just say "As Marin.. his usually composed friend who now seemed concern, ---(complete the sentence)"

or "As Marin.. his usually composed friend who showed a look of concern that flickered across his face, --(complete the sentence)"

or "As Marin watched his usually composed friend who now seemed so troubled, showed a look of concern which flickered across his face." or the likes[use your creative juices =) ].

Dictionary and a thesaurus would always help. Here you'll see plenty of "colorful" words for you to utilize in your creative hobby.

Good luck to your story!! Take your time to complete your story, no need to rush it.. =)
