I got my two guinea pigs from a lady who kept them all in the same cage. None had died, and there were males and females. The babies should be fine.

guinea pigs can be kept in small herds with one male and several femals. as long as your cage is large enough to hold all of the babies and mommies then there wont be a problem. you could even keep the male inthe cage ( but beware the mom will go into heat hours after giving birth and the male wont miss the oportunity) :)
look up breeding guinea pigs, or cavies on the net and you'll find all sorts of helpful sites. also, you'll find some that try and discourage you but just keep looking :)

unless the other one had a litter at the same time she probably would attack the poor babies.
