I think overall it would depend on the family..
I'd like to think my kids could come and tell me like i could with my parents . They know that i'd back them up all the way and i never let them forget that :)

If my child was asking for contraceptives or requesting an abortion there are already problems within the family and non cmmunication and lack of education(by the parent) would be two. Keyword here is CHILD. The govt. shouldn't have more authority over your CHILD than you. Yes I would want to know and honestly I'm not sure what I would do..

I'd like to know but only because then I'd know that at least my daughter was sensible enough to take the right precautions. But i can totally see why some parents would freak out.
They all want to think of their children as little angels who do no wrong but i remember what it was like being a teenager and things happen.
But could you imagine if an Asian girl was found out that way? There would, quite literally, be murder.
And anyway even if it is a child there is still such a thing as patient confidentiality.
How would you like the doctor to go round telling everyone what you asked for?

As a parent I would like to think that my child would feel able to come to me first and talk about contraception.

Under 16 yes I would like to know as abortion is a massive thing for any woman to have to cope with, let alone a child.

I could not promise to keep that a secret for my GC...no way.
As a GP...I would tell...a young childs' life is on the line here and you want to make sure the line of communication between that young child and her parents does not become contaminated with a third party.

I'd like to think myself and my husband have got a good enough relationship with our son for him to come and talk to us when hes ready to have sex, if this untrue then i would be happy for our GP to sort it out with him as long as he gets the right advice and is being safe whats it matter,
as we where young parents our self's i would like to think our son would get help he needs so i guess i wouldn't mind where it came from as long as it was the right for him

If my underage daughter nedded an abortion, I would like to know, to be there for her, to support her and comfort her, if it happens it happens, yes I would be upset, but at such a traumatic time I think she would need the supportof her family around her and she would need looking after, who else would do that???
