I would say 10's of thousands if not ALOT more, obesity contributes to diabetes, heart failure, blocked or clogged atreries, hypoglycemia, lack of exersize, thyroid problems, sleep apnea, difficulty breathing, the list goes on and on being obese also makes it harder for a woman to become pregnant...this is just a list of a few things that obesity can lead into and if not properly taken care of can lead to death, can you imagine what a complete list of diseases and ailments that obesity causes can lead to?

It's not really possible to say that someone died specifically of obesity rather than natural causes that were exacerbated by obesity. For example, just because someone died of hypertension does not mean that they wouldn't have died of it if they were thin. So we can only guess and postulate at what role obesity had in anyone's death.

hundred thousands. i try really hard to be honest with my patients. alot of them come to the ER expecting miracle cures or medications and i try to educate them and tell them to loose weight, stop smoking, drinking, using drugs. preventitive medicine, i think that is key. so many of these diseases are all due to lifestyles. and just simple changes can do so much.
