she's fifteen weeks old and always turns her head the same way to sleep etc, her head is now going flat on one side. Doctor thinks that it could be where her head was turned while I was pregnant because she was so low down. None of my other 4 where like this, is there anything I can do to try and even it out (have tried turning her head while sleeping and 'wedging' her up one side in her bouncy chair but she still manages to turn her head to the flat side)?? Help please!!

try encouraging her to look at something on the other side (the side opposite of the way she looks now. Have your spouse hold the baby sitting up and put a toy off to the side, so the baby turns her head to look at it. Hold the shoulders stable so she has to strain to look...she needs to loosen up the muscles in her neck.

make sure she gets pleanty of tummy time and limit time in carseats, swings ect...anything her head can lay on.

It may go away, but the head is soft, so if she continues to only lay on the one side, it may not. Your doctor might suggest a helmet...but that won't be for a few months...if it doesn't fix.

She keeps laying her head on the same side everytime she sleeps. You also want to be careful when holding her. Not to let her head rest on your arm but supported by your hand. My mom let my my head rest on her arm and I am sure I have a flat spot in the back of my head. Maybe you can wedge a stuffed animal, pillow, or something on that side of her head so she will be forced to turn her head the other way.

If she's always sleeping on the flat side then that is exactly why that part of her head is flat.
When a baby is born their scalp is just like clay, it can be molded and it stays this way for a few weeks after birth.
To prevent things like this from happening you have to make sure your baby sleeps in different positions for the first couple of months. If she keeps sleeping on that side just monitor her and try and maneuver her to the other side.

Infants' skulls is softer than those of adults. It might have happened because she has been sleeping on the flat side of her head.
Use higher pillows on the flat side of the head, so that the baby can not turn head that side and even if she somehow manages to then turn it away yourself.
Good Luck :-)

Nothing to worry about. The fontanelles are still soft, and flat spots may appear. Your baby's head will probably be nicely shaped by the time she is about a year old. In the meantime, you could try her on some fancy hats to disguise this temporary flat look . :)

this hasn't ever happened to me, but i've had friends who have been through this. some babies are just comfortable in one spot. my friend's daughter had this problem and eventually had to wear a brace on her head for a while. i'd talk to your dr and see what other tactics might help and if your child will need a brace to wear on the head.
