They don't check every rivet, they check the important stuff. Rivets will be checked on bigger services. 20 mins is for a turn round check, you also have before flight checks and after flight checks. Then there is the regular service intervals where the aircraft gets thorough tests and checks. Flying is still the safest form of travel. And remember it's not falling from the sky that kills you, it's hitting the ground.

No, I don't worry about flying at all. Infact, I would love to take my 2 and a half year old on a plane someday. We don't have the money right now, and won't for a while, but that's my dream, and it's hers too. Whenever planes go over our house, she goes nuts and asks me when we're going to the airport so we can fly. She loves the begining of Jerasic Park and the hellocopter lands right in front of a huge waterfall(when they get to the island). We want to go on a hellicopter too. I have a lot of health problems, so I hope we can do it before, well, you know.

That answer is particular, i will inform you why. I certainly have flown for 6,000 hours and in 22 forms of airplanes. a number of those are poorly engineered and a few are poorly maintained. the biggest concerns I certainly have with are FAA compliance with provider bulletins and significant overhauls accomplished via mediocre maintenance shops. I certainly have had 2 engine out circumstances the place the fault become interior of artwork accomplished that become no longer exact signed via the IA ( inspection authorization). Experimental abode-equipped airplanes fall extra into this class using fact of loss of adventure on the portion of the pilot. The twist of destiny ratio for cover rigidity airplane belong to the Lockheed F-104 Starfighter and Convair B-58A Hustler, neither airplane must be flown effectively at below 2 hundred knots. I certainly have a asserting that is going like this: "the final protection gadget in any airplane is a properly experienced pilot"

Actually, the secret to flying is not to worry about anything. You just step off and get distracted by a delightful thought or a surprising occurance, like a baby bird tweeting in your ear and you're away. Just don't look at the ground or worry how far away from your feet it is.

I worry during the wait for boarding and as I board but once I am seated I stop worrying. At that point it is all out of my control. Then I begin to count the number of seats between me and the emergency exit. and I consider that it is far more dangerous to get into a car than a plane. After that, I read then sleep until dissension.

I worry constantly about all things that fly. I mean, what if the anti-gravity fails when a duck is right over my head? I really get worried.

No. I worry about crashing into the side of a large mountain. Or plummeting into the sea on fire. Flying, I'm perfectly ok with.

I have a really bad fear of flying but get on a plane because at the end of the day, you have to get over your fears and trust other people to do their job properly or you will never do anything!
