In theory yes, but that is making the assumption that every parent would react in the same way that the people above me are talking. Supportive and informative...
Having worked in a job where children are out there basically on their own ... and when the reaction to this sort of information is violence and sudden homelessness I'm not sure I can entirely agree.. too difficult..

Abortion, yes. Contraception,I don't know-could put girls, who are going to have sex anyway ,off taking proper precautions if they thought their parents would have to b consulted. As far as I'm concerned though, abortion is a medical procedure & absolutely should not be done without parental consultation/permission.

Absolutely- laws make us responsible for them until they're 18. If a parent can get in trouble for their child's misdeeds, we have every right to know everything! In some states, parents "do time" for kids skipping school!

No not all parents are reasonable. Whether you are under 18 or not you are entitled to doctor confidentiality that trust would be destroyed if doctors could tell parents you were asking for the pill.

No. If you are at the point where you need to know the inside outs of your childrens life and thoughts then where is the trust? I want my kids to come to me or the missus when they are older and talk to us about it without fear. We made mistakes and so will they. If they did have underage sex and used contraception I would be pleased that they are at least being sensible.

I think an abortion is a big deal, heck even an underaged kid using contraception is a biggy! I think parents should know, the child should not bare the burden alone.

I think a teenager should have the rights to get contraception with or without parental consent or knowledge (if they can't talk to you about it, it's your fault), but i don't agree that they should be able to get abortions without parents consent... it is still surgery and all. but i don't know... very controversial... good question! â¥

yes...but I don't know if they should interfere in the choice. I think that contraception should be available for those who feel they need it. Abortion is a separate can of worms.

Yes yes yes. As long as they're under our care, then we have the right to take care of them. They can start keeping secrets once they move out.
