Not quite a-z, but certainly a step by step!

After cleansing and moisturising let your moisturiser be absorbed fully, blot any excess off. Moisturise your lips - regular moisturiser is great for this and by the time you get to your lips they will be smooth instead of cracked.

Apply a FOUNDATION (get help getting a good match and be aware that yellow based colours match far better - no one has pink skin) from the nose outwards in small strokes - some people like to use a sponge or brush but fingers are fine. Be aware of darker areas of skin around nostrils, inner eyes and outer eye corners, the makeup will look 'cleaner' if these areas are evened out.
Using a small brush, finger or q-tip carefully dot foundation over any still-visible blemishes. If the foundation has light coverage you may need a separate concealor but a good foundation should do both!

Dust a light dusting of POWDER over - this helps to 'fix' the foundation in place and makes sure than any powder products dont stick in funny places.

Groom your EYEBROWS with a stubby brush

EYESHADOW- if you are applying a dark shade its a good idea to apply a heavy, loose layer of powder below your eye to catch any crumbs - you can dust it off afterwards. There are two basic eyeshadow shapes to follow - one is the 'round' shape, where you make a semi-circle of colour over the lid of your eye and blend out towards your eyebrow - go right into the inner corner and dont extend past the outer corner. Blending is best done with a clean brush, apply the colour either with a sponge/foam applicator, brush or finger! but blending is best with a firm, soft brush. The second shape is the 'cat eye' shape, where the colour comes from underneath and above and extends the eye outwards - this is the shape to use for smoky eyes. Blending is important if you don't want to look gothic!

MASCARA - should be changed every 3 months to avoid eye infections. Volumising and lengthening varieties contain fibres to build thickness/length. When you have applied the mascara - from root to tip and I find using the end of the brush like a pen is useful on the small hairs - brush it through to separate up clumps. A clean, old mascara wand is perfect! You dont need a fancy comb.

EYELINER - only if you need to - its quite dramatic. Upper lid lining is something that requires a lot of practise to get a smooth line. Best to experiment really, there are pencils, gels, inks and pens available! Just find one that you feel comfortable with and experiment - liner can be used to 'correct' eye shapes - defining the edges etc.

BLUSHER - get the biggest, domed fluffy brush you can, don't be deceived by small brushes claiming to be for blusher - they are hard to work with and can make stripes! Get a brush big enough to do it in one swoop. It can be place in 3 main ways - Apples of the cheeks, best to use a soft colour if you dont want to look like Aunt Sally, smile and make your cheeks stick out then apply in soft circlular movements. More glamourous is to apply to the top of the cheek bones - take it down from you hairline above the ear toward the nose but stop at the mid point of your eye. Build up colour slowly to avoid crazy 70's looks! Defining cheek bones with colour underneath is a bit 80's but is still popular - avoid lines though! I would recommend a good general colour to be a reddish pink or peachy tone. Bronzers can be used in this way, but make sure you only blush your cheeks - dont be tempted to dust your nose and brow!

LIPSTICK comes last, and don't be fooled into thinking you should wear a specific colour. Colours go in and out of fashion, and it is best to ask the sales girls which are the most popular. Colour is an acessory and you can wear anything you like! There are lots of pigmented glosses that come with handy applicators. If you are wearing a bright lip colour then I would recommend applying with a brush to get a sharp lipline.

Overall rules - dont go heavy everywhere, decide which are you best features and make them the highlight. It was popular in the 70's and 80's to have a busy face, but it will look a bit dated now. Metallic shades highlight wrinkles - metallic lip and eye colours should be avoided unless you want a dramatic look. And invest in some good brushes! MAC do great mini sets around Christmas. Make sure your foundation is an excellent match!
Remember, you don't have to apply all your makeup at once, a good daytime look is foundation, blush, lipgloss and mascara!

Covering blemishes should be your temporary concern. I'd say the long term goal should be to get on a proper skin care regimen to make your skin look healthier and reduce if not remove your blemishes.

From my personal journey, an egg white mask can tighten your epidermis & truly make your pores look way smaller. I also use a makeup primer (monistat anti-chafing gel) & standard Minerals makeup. that's low-cost, organic, and would not aggravate my epidermis. I did this recurring a pair nights in the past & replaced into in a warm eating position for 4 hours & i did not ought to contact up my makeup in any respect & did no longer have oily epidermis.

You need some conceler but only a little and then apply your foundation. Try going to the MAC counter because they will apply the products that are right for your skin as oppose to going to the drug store.
