I am thinking about buying a new computer in the not to far future...I want a decent system the i can customize to play games like doom 3, Half-life 2 and other graphically advanced games smoothly and at high quality...
What would be the smart choice? I'm thinking Dell XPS.

Oh and i would like the price to be $1200 or less.

I think the Dell XPS is a great gaming system. Make sure you get the best graphics card you can afford and 2GB of RAM.

I am not sure of your budget, as those machines are not reasonable at $1200. You can check out http://www.24houredeals.com/Dell-coupons-23-mer.html for the latest deals and coupons.

Good luck.

The Dell XPS series is perfect for your needs. I own both:

and a Dell 9200 and the 9200 doesn't quite cut it.

I do not recommend a laptop for gaming, the games you wish to play are not laptop friendly and well not play to high performance, I am sure you are aware of this.

All I can also suggest is that you look into aleinware system, also owned by Dell but you can (for a little extra in cost) get some amazingly powerful system.

N.B Sorry for the English Dell site.

You can also click on the "ExactChoice" link to help find the perfect computer for you.

I prefer the new iMac Core 2 Duo or Macbook Pro that can run both Windows and Mac in a powerful computer with a sleek design.
Here's some info on the new iMacs if you're interested: http://www.cnettv.com/9710-1_53-26158.html?tag=vid

(if you're not interested in macs, just ignore the rest of my post)
Macs seriously are the future in computing. I just got my first one and I've never been so amazed with a computer in my life. It never has ANY problems whatsoever. Plus if I ever need to use Windows software, I have partitioned my harddrive so that I can run either Mac OS X or Windows (like i said earlier). It really is nifty...you should look into it.

Also... Windows runs faster on my Mac then it does on any other computer I've ever owned (and I've had several amazing PCs in my day...yet they truly just don't compare with Mac).

Go with Dell. XPS is a great choice for what you want however, they can be very expensive depending on what hardware you choose and any other stuff you get with it.
