ADAM C........Where were you when Bruce Pearl brought in a Top 3 recruting class nationally, Chism, Crews, and the #1 PG in the country, Ramar Smith? There is proof that he can recruit. He took a dead beat program and earned a #2 seed in last years tournament and won the SEC East (swept Florida last year). Had the seond best record in the SEC this year. Got another at-large bid to the big dance. If that doesn't prove he can coach then I don't know what does.

ADAM C- Tubby Smith wasnt a powerhouse coach when they hiredhim at Kentucky. Bruce Pearl is far more proven at UT than Tubby was at Georgia. Better answer next time please.
Also- Pearl has done what he's done this year with 4 freshmen getting quality PT. That's a pretty good coaching job.

Tom Crean makes the most sense to me. I don't think Pearl would leave UT for another SEC school and besides he's building a better program at UT.

Bruce Pearl hasn't proven he can be a good coach and a good recruiter, so I doubt that UK would go after him. Plus Tennessee is paying him alot of money to just up and move.

Sure, UK could offer him probably nearly 2 million a year, which is a little under what Tubby makes now, but if they can Tubby, they're most likely going after a more proven coach with experience coaching a power-house team. If they stay in conference they're either going to try and buy out Billy Donovan or go after LSU's coach.

It's more likely that they'll go out of conference though, because they don't want to get into a bidding war with another SEC school. Kentucky might have more money, but they're certainly not going to want to pay someone 2.5 or 3 million a year!

I don't think they would go after bruce pearl. I do think that he would be a great coach though. Tubby is a great coach and as good as anyone at coaching itself. Where he falls short is recruiting. That is why mitch barnhardt is wanting to make changes to tubby's staff. Tubby just needs to quit recruiting the Bobby perry's, Shegary alleyne's and everything would be fine.

have the good recruits. this is Kentucky. this is one of THE basketball jobs in the country. they should be able to pick from the best. that is not to say pearl isn't good, he just wouldn't be my first choice.

even inspite of the actuality that i'm a Florida Gators fan myself, I even ought to assert that Tubby Smith is not basically between the finest coaches in the SEC, yet in the country. in case you look at him compared to Rick Pitino (who abandoned Kentucky i'd upload), Tubby has finished a lot more beneficial. He has recruited more beneficial NBA starters and All-Stars than Rick Pitino. He has received more beneficial nationwide championships than Rick Pitino. and maximum superb me if i'm incorrect, yet has he no longer coached uk to the longest contemporary streak of NCAA Tourney appearances? And to accurate that off, he's between the winningest coaches in college basketball at present! he's had a problematical year, in spite of the undeniable fact that the SEC is starting to be harder and harder as may be confirmed from very last year and this year. Tubby's nevertheless doing an fantastic job. he's done way too a lot for uk for them to fireside him. And right here's a touch some thing as an instance the position uk may nicely be headed in the journey that they hearth Tubby: The UC Bearcats fired Bob Huggins because of a few offcourt incidents. earlier he replaced into fired, he replaced into (and nevertheless is at Kansas St.) between the winningest coaches in basketball. The Bearcats not in any respect ignored the postseason at the same time as he replaced into their coach, and such as Tubby Smith, he had a lengthy streak of NCAA Tourney appearances. in the first 2 seasons without him, the UC Bearcats have ignored both postseason appearances and had a blended list of 33-30 (.524 win share), which isn't very sturdy for a team who replaced into once between the NCAA basketball elites. i'm now to not particular that uk needs to bypass down that street. So i'd not recommend firing Tubby Smith until eventually uk begins getting sub .500 files.

Could Bruce Pearl do any better than Tubby? Not
likely.....but at Lexington, KY .... blood is 'blue' in
color and the fans won't pump in the 'green' if the 'wins'
don't come back soon! So, it's a good bet that this
is on Tubby's mind!
