If Lofton and JaJuan Smith are hitting they could be a dangerous team, in my opinion. Even if Lofton is the only one on top of his game then I say sweet 16.

Tennessee will beat LBSU and Albany to get to the Sweet 16, where it will be a nail-biter against Ohio State that could go either way. I think they win that game before falling to Texas A&M in the Elite 8.

Tennessee has never proven much in the postseason. Even under Pearl last year they got bounced in the first game in the SEC tourney and then had to hit a buzzer beater to beat a 15 seed (although it was the best 15 seed in the history of the tournament) in the first round of the dance, losing to wichita state in the second.
Pearl still has to prove he can get them to perform in the tourney. They have overachieved for two years and they just aren't as good as some people pump them up to be. I graduated from UT and have been a die hard fan for 10 years. Please believe that if they didn't have Lofton they wouldn't have won 15 games this season. It all depends on if he is hot or not, and if they play half court defense. Everyone knows they can press and force turnovers, but can they defend a slow paced game and keep the rebounds close? We will have to see. They lack size on the interior as well.
I think if we can win a couple games we match up well with Ohio State. At Columbus this year we had the game in the bag but missed our key free throws at the end and it cost us the game. Tennessee was the only team this year that was able to get Oden away from the basket by running high screens, and forced him to defend out near the 3 point line. If we can do that again and force Ohio State into a fast paced game I think we have a shot to make the elite 8. Any farther than that is unrealistic though.

Tennessee has a team that shows up on fire one night and gets blown out by a terrible south Carolina team the next. which team will show up for the dance. they can score , that's for sure but they are inconsistent on defense. i have them beating long beach but then getting edged by Virginia in a close one. good luck.
