Not at all - just because a systems stops having games commercially released for it doesn't mean it's dead.

The Atari 2600 hasn't been on the shop shelves for decades but the consoles and games still exchange hands on eBay - sometimes for considerable sums of money.

In fact there's also a number of programmers who currently develop new games for the Atari 2600, so I wouldn't be suprised if at som epoint in time - if not already - there are bedoom programmers working on games for just the simple old Gameboy B/W as well as any other bygone era handhelds out there.

I would agree that it's on the edge of extinction, my son who turns 6 next week loves his GBA but craves for a DS now. Somehow this didn't surprise me. There are a few games that come out here and there for the GBA, I thought it would have died a while ago and it says something about the GBA that it has lasted as long as it has.

It's endangered. Interestingly, handheld consoles seem to have a longer lifespan when the new model comes out than home consoles. GBA itself won't go extinct, as the DS can't play anything from before the GBA, but Nintendo will probably stop making games for it some time from several months to a year and a half from now.

Well, that's bound to happen over time. Still, we get some games like Summon Night and Super Robot Wars.

DS has been out long enough that new GBA games may be reasonably possible, but DS is the way to go now.

Nah... It evolved into the DS.

The DS can accept Game Boy Advance cartridges, though it can't accept Game Boy cartridges.

Besides, Nintendo can still sell more Game Boy adapters to play old games, I mean they did sell those things for the Super Family Computer and the GameCube.

However, they probably would rather resell the Game Boy games for the Wii's Virtual Console. I don't think that they have announced it, but you know it probably will happen.

And probably they will also sell a Virtual Console for the DS.

The trend is more software adapter than hardware adapter these days.

Why'd you call me a wet back?
I have no idea in why you hate me.
I already told you that I'm none of those two stupid races Philip.

PS: GBA sucks.
I own DS but it's boring.
PSP, GBA, and DS are only for kids under 12 or something.
