No difference at all in the text. Just the covers are different. It's a marketing thing.

I have bought both the adult and childrens copies of the last 2 books in the series and have ordered both for the coming release. I have read both versions and found there to be no difference (i'm sad, I know) It is true that the only difference I could find was in the covers but I believe the reason for this to be that an adult would rather be seen reading an adult book on teh train or where ever, rather than a childrens book. In other words it is a marketing gimmick to sell these books to just as many adults as children.
ps. i bought 2 copies so that my wife and I didn't argue over who got to read them first and neither of us were left not knowing who died and how in the last book while the other kept using that knowledge as power :)

No difference.
Just the book cover that is different because some adults may feel silly reading a book with a children's cover on it.
My husband reads the series and has a few with adult covers and some childrens cover. It all depends what he finds or gets at the time.

Just the covers. I think its so adults dont feel stupid sitting on the train or wherever, reading a childrens book. With the adult covers at least you can pretend youre reading something deep and meaningful! Not that it particularly bothers me. I dont care who knows I love Harry Potter books!

think it is just the covers that differ, the adult cover is just a little darker than the kids one, why they need a different one , ( I am the adult by the way) I don't know, I just love the books and the films, I usually by it and take it on holiday to read when lying by the pool. Better than a paperback 'cept I usual finish the Hp and end up bying a paperback as well whilst away.

Yes. it's the cover art.
When the first book came out the cover art was completely different.. illustrated by a dude in Cambridge I believe.. then when the reprint was redesigned and buying figures checked it was found that the adult readership was WAY larger than they'd anticipated (of course, it's a kids book.. why would they initially target adults?) hence, the second cover.. to appeal to an adult audience.

There's no difference in content it's just got a different cover to stop you feeling like a prat when reading it on the train....I don't care about looking like a prat for reading a kid's book...I just read the Harry Potter books anyway....and IN PUBLIC...OOOOOOOOH!

I think it is just the cover artwork. The children's books have a cartoony cover, whereas the adult's version is covered with a more artistic drawing.
