thanks for the imput guys. i went there yesterday morning with my dad, and i must say, it looked like a run down camp ground. we both looked at each other, shook our heads and said no at the same time. they did have signs posted around the gardens that they were gonna do a face lift to the place this year. we went to leu gardens and he was way more impressed with that place. we will probably have the ceremony there and the reception at a hotel.
thanks for your info, it was helpful

Lord this brings back memories. I was married there, right in the amphitheatre next to lake Sue. Its beautiful. The only issue was if you have a large wedding party and a large number of attendees parking is rather limited, and if a previous wedding party is not prompt they delay you cutting into your 2 hour time slot. When I was married it was like $100 or something to reserve the amphitheatre, but you should also donate something to the justice of the peace or preacher if they perform the ceremony. We didn't have any ammenities back then like dressing rooms or facilities. It looks now like they actually rent formally and have installed benches, dressing rooms, electrical facilities and all kinds of amemities. There is a two hour time limit for your party to get in, perform the ceremony, and clear the area. Its a ctach 22 as if you don't take the first or last time slot you could be delayed by previous wedding partys, but if you take the first time slot its real early, and the last too late. Occasionally, some rude people will keep going by in noisey boats. Other than that its goregeous especially if you have the ceremony when the azaelias are blooming. Here is a web site giving some details and contact info.

Mead Gardens Wedding

Never /had/ a wedding there, myself. Nor seen one there. However, I wouldn't recommend doing so. Mead Gardens is a little on the run-down side (at least it was a month or so ago when I last visited). It's more like a public park than a garden, really.

If you're looking for a truely beautiful garden to have your wedding, check out Leu Gardens (which is not far away from Mead, located on Corrine in Winter Park). The gardens are FAR better maintained. I've been in the gardens there while several weddings have taken place. Most of the time they are held in a beautiful little spot by the rose gardens. That would be my recomendation. =)
