How does it effect a 6 year old boy when his parents get divorced? Especially when he grows up, and becomes an adult, how does he react to the world?

certainly very bad impact,

. he looses the value of love and relationships
. he looses trust or he feels that no one is trustworthy
. having no proper love and sustenance of both parents, he may develop some deficiency in overall mental maturity
. he may develop aversion on world or on certain type of people

Well of course the child will feel a void. counseling may need to be of use. but if it is a for sure done deal and spouse is a responsible person grant as much custody possible allowed by courts this will allow the child a chance to see dads new digs and put some relief on you. Divorce is not a happy issue for children(I know) I hope you the best. and if possible try to mend things out, remember the happy times and the your wedding the families on both sides,friendships, keep together and have spouse live in the basement for awhile( if at fault).

A divorce will tear apart your 6 yr old, i am from a broken home and i know how it is whn parents divorce, try to find another solution than divorce........

Children are amazingly resilient.
I think it is better to divorce than to expose children to violence and abuse. Boys especially shouldn't have a role model of abusive men...
A loving and indepenant mum will hopefully be a good role model for him and he will respect women when he grows up.....

hes young so he might be ok and able to deal. he also might start doing badly in school. idk its just statistics. if both of you show your son you still love him he should be ok. make sure he doesnt blame it on himself.. if u see changes in him try a family therapist just u and him... see how he feels. its a hard situation.
