the air being too dry is usually the most common cause

i live in arizona and there is NO moisture in the air here-my four year old gets nose bleeds constantly, especially in the summer. we've been to her dr about this and he said she'll eventually grow out of it and gives her prescription allergy pills to help.

the biggest thing that helps her is the humidifier i put in her room at night. it keeps the air moist and has cut down her nose bleeds alot. any local drugstore will have one

if you ever get a nosebleed that won't stop after applying pressure (pinching the nostrils closed and tipping the head forward) for 10 minutes you need to report to the emergency room at once b/c you might need to have your nose packed to stop the bleeding

good luck to you

There could be a number of reasons that your waking with nose bleeds. Many other posters all said what I was first thinking. If it is dry in your home that could cause nosebleeds but, it shouldn't cause them badly.
I started waking up with bloody noses because I am pregnant and my blood pressure is high. You should have your pressure checked. You can go to your local pharmacy and do it yourself with one of the machines that is there for public use. I think that you should call your Dr. and make an appointment to get checked out before it gets out of control.

If your environment at night is very dry, this can cause bleeding of the nasal passages, if bleeding is severe it could be something more serious. If it is a moisture issue, try using a nice big humidifier.....does wonders for my husband. High blood pressure can also cause spontaneous nose bleeds. Talk to your family doctor.

four questions
1 do you sleep alone? if not, perhaps you should.
2 do you have a blood pressure problem? have it tested.
3 does your diet include cabbage, root vegetables, and dairy products as a source of Vitamin K? get some into you.
4 are you sleeping in a toxic environment? for example, if you breath in fumes from laundry powder or synthetic floor coverings you could well wake up with a bleeding nose.
humidifier is probably good, but you should check the things I suggested.

some things you should consider doing are first of all talk to your doctor it could be something worse, second get a humidifier (they work wonders), and third try putting a little hand cream or lotion on your fingures and spreading it on the inside of your nostrils it helps keep your nose mosturized in hot conditions, will stop it from cracking and help with your nose bleeds.

Try sleeping with a humidifier. It sounds like the air in your room is too dry, thus drying out your sinuses. Also increase your water intake. Dry sinuses are one sign of dehydration.

If this doesn't help, go see your doctor. You may need to have the vessels cauterized if this happens often.

Could simply be that the air in your room is too dry. Try sleeping with a humidifier, if you have one, or put a thin layer of vaseline in your nose at bedtime (sounds yucky, but it works).
