Okay i feel like a complete knob but I've forgotten how to work this out. If you could show your working that would be greatly appreciated.

isn't it just 1ml of your solution + 5ml water?

and it's different from 5x dilution. A 5x dilution would be
1ml solution and 4ml water.

you need 4 ml.If you add 4ml ,the total amount of liquid is mL and 1in 5
