It can happen but it's not normal.
They may be Braxton Hicks contractions which are perfectly normal and are nothing to worry about. But there may be more serious issues and if there is spotting or any amount of fluid there is a risk of problems. If I were you I'd see a doctor - just to be on the safe side.

I just had the same thing yesterday. It's finally nice out here...in the 50's so my friend and I went for a walk outside. After just a few minutes I started feeling a cramp. I don't quite know if it's normal or not but I'm going to mention it to my doctor at my appointment next week. I am also 27 weeks. I don't get a cramp like that when I'm walking in the house or around the office so I can't tell why it's happening. It concerned me though so I'm definitely going to ask my doc.

It was normal for me, too. There's a lot of stretching and things going on in there and sometimes walking made it worse. Just try to take it easy and if the cramps are worrying you, call your doctor. That's what they're there for! As long as you aren't bleeding and the cramping isn't regular like contractions, you should be fine. Isn't pregnancy fun?!

i had that also..i only got cramps when i was active..and i heard it was normal also..well mine wasnt! i was at risk for pre-term labor..and my doctor restricted my activity and i havent cramped since!! but if i walk around the supermarket or the mall i start to cramp..so i just have my husband go to the supermarket!! if you read up on pregnancy it will say period like cramps is not normal! and should be looked at immediately..period like cramps are a symptom of pre-term labor!!

It was normal to me. I had period cramps, aches, and pains around that time of the month when I was pregnant.
