Tiger barbs are fairly easy to breed if you give them the right conditions. Go back and get at least 3-4 more. You want a group of about 6 in your 15 gallon tank. Let your fish get used to each other and used to the tank. Feed them regular flake food once a day and a frozen or live food once a day. They really like bloodworm and brine shrimp but will take just about anything you feed them. Once they are about 1.5" long and the females are nice and plump, remove any other fish from the tank. Take out the rocks and put in lots of fine leafed plants. Do a big water change. The barbs will breed by chasing through the plants and leaying the eggs behind. You will be able to see the eggs in the plants. They are small almost clear dots. Once they breed you will need to move the parnets to another tank or they will eat the eggs. The eggs hatch in a few days and the fry are able to swim a day or two after that. You need to feed them infusoria or microworms the fish few days and baby brine shrimp after that. They are not hard to raise and will be lots of fun for you.

Be sure to use a sponge filter in the tank with the babies and not a regular power filter as it will suck up the baby fish.

First Tiger Barbs lay eggs so they are hard to breed. If they do lay eggs your Guppies will eat them.

Barbs are aggressive so they will also eat your Guppies given a chance.

I would not put these fish in the same tank.

Since your Barbs are sick anyways - instead of getting more, get Marigold Platties or Berlin Swords, they are similar in size and color to the Barbs but give live birth like the Guppies do.

Rule of thumb 2" of fish per gallon.

I agree about live plants, they are a pain, if you get the plastic kind that floats on top of the tank it creates lots of hiding places and also the fry hide in the gravel at the bottom. Some will get eaten but there are usually so many by the time you see them and get them out there is a manageable number.

My pet store would never buy the fry from me because I am not an authorized dealer, but they did take them in trade for supplies.

Breeding the egg laying species like the barbs are worlds apart from breeding live bearing species. If you want to breed them you had better 1st get a good book on the subject and read it fully before attempting or you will be in for great disappointment
Can you do it? sure you can!
Is it easy? heck no
Is it expensive? it can be quite costly especially if you don't follow good advice..
