Try a saline nasal RINSE (not a spray) A full warm water saline rinse goes in one nostril and out the other. It draws out all the gunk and shrinks the tissue (like swimming in the ocean). I've been doing it at work too.

The buffered salt doesn't 'sting' as much as plain salt water. You can use a new method like Nasopure, or the vintage, Netipot. The special bottle and salt is about $20.

You can do this a often as you like with no bad side effects.

You don’t need a prescription for this therapy. So if you live in a state like mine, they’ve pretty much “outlawed” sudafed medicine. Drug-free is really the way to go on a frequent-use basis. (I put in a link for “what” and “how” – there’s also some good info on wiki)

1- Steam inhalation (very important) especially in the morning
2- Rest: as much as you can, especially at the early stages.
3- Don't blow your nose, cleaning your sinus, especially in the morning ,by sneezing warm water through your nose. This might be uncomfortable for beginners but by time you will get use to it.
4- Tea bags, place warm tea bag on your sinus and eyes.
5- Herbal tea is always good.

Don't use any antibiotics, they do more harm than good. If you practiced my methods, your body will be more able to fight sinus congestion on its own. Keep the faith!

Sinus Headache, pain, from cold, or allergies? I'd suggest something natural or even homeopathic before OTC's or other drugs as they hide symptoms that seem only to make things MUCH worse in the long run. I'd try a little bottle of "white flowers" available in Chinese Stores, basically eucalyptus, camphor, menthol etc. on a cloth or rub gently into sinuses (just more pure then Vicks or other menthol rubs). I've heard of saltwater nasal sprays working wonders.
And I learned from my chiropractor that believe it or not
if you suffer from regular "bouts" of sinus pressure etc. that a regular dose of Salmon oil works great!...and it does.
Good Luck!

Truly my friend, there are too many OTC meds to mention. My best suggestion would be to go to the drug store and fine meds that fit your symptoms. The simpler the better. Other than that, go see your doctor.

Drink hot tea.

Stay hydrated (LOTS of water!)

Try using a humidifier and/or a nasal spray if your sinuses are dried out.

Good luck.

We take Claritin. Its always done the trick but if someone had a severe sinus infection then antibiotics would be best.

I agree with all the natural remedies here and also, find out what in your life is stuffing you up....what's getting up your nose, and try to eleviate it.
