I am having a debate with a friend over this. I think you can own a machine gun but it had to be manufactured before a certain date and there is a transfer fee.

<>You need a Class 3 Federal Firearms Permit from the BATF (Bureau of Alcohol/Tobacco/Firearms). You must have a special safe, a house alarm and your house will be inspected once a year by BATF and the application fee is $200. There's more, but that's the big stuff.

Nope. You need a special permit from the National Treasury Department.

You can own one, but it looks like a pain in the *** to do it legally.

in 5 minutes before the troops arrive.

No, it's not easy. You need a federal permit. It's time consuming and costly.
