A servign for a turtle is about the size of it's head (not the neck, just the head).

Usually, we will feed babies daily, then back off as they get older until we only feed the adult about every three days- still only about the size of the head.

As many as they can consume in about a 10-15 minute period. You can hand feed it one at a time to get an idea of how many it needs. It will act uninterested when it is full. Or you can just do a few (like previously answered) and then also add a few guppies to your tank. If it gets really hungry it will eat the guppies. Romaine lettuce is another food item they really enjoy, once a week or so.
