Sometimes it is fun to do a scavenger hunt. You can make a list of things that someone is to find and then they search online and then share their results. You can help to teach them about which websites appear more valid and how to avoid those that will just give you 500 pop-ups.

That of course is the first step. Then you of course would give more specific advice to help them to learn how to narrow down their wording so that they can more specific searches.

I think that it is also important to teach about using synonyms. Sometimes you may not find anything under one word, and then get the perfect site from a synonym.
