white magic "witchs" uses salt to protect them selfs or others alike. cause the evel spirits hates salt and wont come near you. heres a example.
your house is haunted by a low class demon, a "witch" will poor salt around the family and the witchs self...then the witch uses white magic to chant to the demon until it is gone.
dont let anyone fool you, there are REAL demons and REAL spirits in this world of ours...there not made up little kids stories, there real as you and I.
i'm studing to be a witch, I should know afew things right? *salt is to protect you from demons/evil spirit's...it's not made up in your mind..I should know I saw afew in my life time.
ask any witch about *salt* they will tell you the samething that I am..salt can be used in white magic and black magic...plus salt can be use in many spells.

I guess that salt as a preservative was observed to prolong foodstuffs. In the past people probably saw their food degrading and thought it was something to do with spirits.
Since the salt stopped the "spirits" taking the food, it must surely be hard for a nasty spirit to walk across salt. Anyway, that is my slant on it.

it's in the mind, if you believe it will keep the spirit in it, it will.
You could use baking powder if you want or sand or beer.
if u draw a pentagram on the floor with a piece of chalk, why does it keep the spirit in if it is not salt? - see, it is a confidence trick. Ps: anything to do with the occult is satanic and evil. Only demons are in the spirit realm, dead humandsb or souls are in a different place like a holding pen, so don't let demons trick u into thinking it is family or someone that died.Stay away and read the bible.

Re. 'witches' as nomadic folk suckling at cattle by night etc. In Europe: indigenous pictish people displaced by conquering celtic tribes and a motif of them driven to woods and high places and having no settled existence that allowed them to provide the usual necessities. A motif, transposed in the cultural imagination. Like iron, and the sacred qualities of the blacksmith, who could marry people. Euhemeristic legends.

The best protection against all spirits good and bad is a clear mind. Spirits are imaginary and made up by man. You are being manipulated!

Why does a cup of fermented grapes and small piece of baked flour inspire people to 'believe' in, and partake of, religious canabilism?
In other words, it didn't have to be a salt ring. The 'salt' is simply a tool for the magician to act as a 'focus' for something taking place which they cannot 'see'. Since they can't 'see' a magick circle taking place, most magicians physically imagined it by sprinkling salt in its place (sympathetic magic its called).
Salt also acts/acted as a preserver, as a flavorer, and as an irritant (think of getting salt water in your eye). As such, its 'miraculous' properties were considered magickal, and thus its inclusion in rituals.

Because salt purifies a space, and negative spirits cannot cross it.
Salt, or salt water was used by the Shinto religion and the religion of old hawai'i as a purifier.

It is difficult to believe that there are still people who believe in this kind of rubbish. This is just superstitious nonsense.
Salt will not protect you from anything. If you stop thinking about evil spirits they will cease to exist because they are only in your mind.
