It may have been Acer Flamingo which has pink leaves on new growth. Look here....http://www.gardeningexpress.co.uk/ProductDetails.asp?ProductID=10685

Acers (Japanses maples) grow well in pots, so do fruit trees that have been grafted onto dwarf root stock.

We have a potted acer and it is beautiful, you can get many different varieties. Just have awander round you local garden centre, or if you have nurseries near you, they are good bets and have knowledgable staff.

There are many varieties of Dwarf trees that can be grown in pots. I grow citrus trees in pots for a number of years until they get too big to move in and out of the house due to cold weather.

Sounds like a Jasmine, but your best bet is a garden centre. You can have a good look around then.
